Nemrég Vida Ági blogján a kicsik beszédfejlődésével kapcsolatban olvastam egy kutatás eredményét a tévé hatásairól. A kutatók azt állapították meg, hogy a tévé nem káros a gyerekek beszédfejlődésére. Ez az állítás így eléggé homályos (nem mindegy, mit néznek a kicsik és hogyan), de abban biztosak lehetünk, hogy sokak az ellenkezőjét vallják.

Való igaz, hogy a picik beszédfejlődését (legyen szó egy-, két- vagy többnyelvű kisgyerekről) az interakció segíti a legjobban, azaz, ha konkrét élethelyzetekben beszélgetnek velük a szüleik, gondozóik, mégis a nyelvelsajátításban nagy segítséget jelenthet a “beszélő doboz”, ha ésszel használjuk.

2-3 éves kortól már kevésbé vitatott, hogy a körültekintően alkalmazott tévézés jótékony hatású lehet, ami a (második) nyelvelsajátítást illeti. Különösen így van ez, ha a gyermek válogatott programokat nézhet (nem is inkább a tévécsatornák programjaiból, mint DVD-n). A tévé még akár a könyvekhez hasonló beszélgetés-ösztönzővé is válhat, ha a szülő együtt nézi gyermekével.

Here’s one bug that’s in for a big change.

When a caterpillar becomes a butterfly, it’s called a metamorphosis.

They creep along trees and plants and eat lots of green leaves)

Made a little crysalis, sleek, sleek, sleek
(When caterpillars become too full to eat any more
They stop and create a comfortable place to rest called a crysalis)

(Caterpillars nest in their crysalis for nearly two weeks
Where their bodies grow and prepare for a big change)

And then became a butterfly, flap, flap, flap
(Upon leaving the crysalis, the little caterpillar has become  a beautiful butterfly
And is ready to fly out into the world)

3. Inchworm

An inchworm lived on a wide green leaf. Day after day she measured the leaf.
“I’m tired of measuring the same leaf” – the inchworm said one day. “I want measure the world.”
She inched  along the leaf: one inch, two inches, out onto the stem. Three inches, four inches. Halfway up the stem, the inchworm met an ant.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m measuring the world.”
Five inches, six inches. “The world is huge. Everywhere I crawl, I see mountains of sand, rivers of dirt. No one can measure the world.”
“I can.”
Seven inches, eight inches. Up the stem, passed another leaf. Nine inches, ten inches. Purplap! A grasshopper landed on the leaf.
“Excuse me, please. I’m measuring the world.”
“Do you have any idea how big the world is? Everywhere I hop I see wide green trees, tall yellow plants. No one can measure the world!”
“I can.”
Eleven inches, twelve inches, passed a flower she inched. Thirteen inches, fourteen inches. A bee popped his head up over the flower.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m measuring the world.”
“Can’t be done. Everywhere I fly I see endless fields of flowers. The world goes on forever. No one can measure it up.” “I can.”
Fifteen inches, sixteen inches. Up the stem, and onto the topmost leaf. Seventeen inches, eighteen inches. The inchworm inched to the edge of the topmost leaf. Nineteen inches, twenty inches.
And off the end she fell front end over tail end, back onto her very own leaf.
“Twenty inches long. I knew I could measure the world.”
It had been a long day. All the way to the end of the world and back. So the inchworm stretched out on her very own leaf and fell asleep.

Meglehetősen “öreg” már: 36 éve segít a gyerekeknek, hogy megtanuljanak egy (vagy több) idegen nyelvet, legalábbis az alapjait elsajátítsák. A professzor kifejezetten kicsikkel foglalkozik. Vicces helyzetekben mutatja meg nekik különböző témákban segítőivel (gyerekekkel és állatokkal) a hasznos szavakat, kifejezéseket. Az “órái” közötti szünetekben dalokat hallgathatunk. Megismerhetjük Eric-et, aki bemutatja a családját, és elmeséli, hogy zajlik egy napja. Ellátogathatunk a Professor házába is, megismerhetünk több állatot, színt, ruhadarabokat, számokat, cselekvéseket, sportokat, hangszereket, irányokat, stb.

Professor Toto nem kéri számon a gyermeked. “Csak” segít, hogy játszva tanulja a nyelvet.

Sajtos tallért sütünk a konyhában, megy az elszívó, odakinn erős szél fúj, néha berezonál a gép. “It sounds like an aeroplane” – mondja Eszter (“Olyan a hangja, mint egy repülőnek”). Aztán levesz egy darab tésztát és gyurmázni kezd vele. “Look, mummy, it’s a worm!” (“Nézd anya, egy kukac!”) Aztán énekelni kezd: “I can wiggle like a worm, and slither like a snake, I pretend I’m a wet dog and shake, shake, shake” (Noodlebug – Let’s Pretend DVD). Döbbenetes, hogy milyen könnyedséggel húzza elő az agyából az angol szavakat, mondatokat. Egy másodpercig nem gondolkodik, mit mondjon.

A másik blogon már írtam róla régebben (de akár ma is írhattam volna): Maisy egy egér, akinek “szülőanyja” a brit Lucy Cousins. Először könyv formában létezett, majd “megrajzfilmesítették”. Angolul nézzük dvd-n, a nyelvezete elég egyszerű ahhoz, hogy a kicsik könnyen feldolgozzák. Tulajdonképp egy kommentátor beszél végig, az állatok inkább csak “nyögnek” és egyéb furcsa hangokat adnak ki, ez az elején nagyon furcsa volt nekem, még most sem szoktam meg teljesen, de Eszter nagyon szereti…

A hivatalos Maisy oldalon bele lehet kukkantani egy pár Maisy könyvbe (most épp a harmadikkal, a Sweet dreams, Maisy-vel fekszünk, elkészítettem Eszternek könyv formában), és találtam egy A2 méretű posztert is ugyanitt, amit kinyomtattam, bekasíroztam öntapadós átlátszó fóliával és most Eszter ágya fölött van a falon, így az esti öltözésnél erről is tárgyalunk angolul, mit csinálnak, mit viselnek, milyen színű ez-meg-az… Jó játék és észrevétlen gyakorlás.

Legújabb szerzeményünk ez a 8 részből álló dvd sorozat, mely a Ladybug magazin illusztrációira, mese-vers-dalanyagára épül. Nagyon sok dal, mozgással egybekötötten, mesék, versek találhatók a dvd-ken. Mindegyik rész valamilyen témát ölel fel (pl. az On the Move a mozgásformákkal, utazással, járművekkel kapcsolatos). A mozgásos játékokat gyerekek illusztrálják, ami már a Play Along-nál is nyerő volt. Az angol mellett spanyol szavakkal is találkozhatunk. Ja, és minden dvd-hez jár egy cd is a zenékkel!
